WMRR Membership Terms and Conditions
Clear terms for joining and participating in Australia’s national peak body for the waste and resource recovery industry.
These terms apply to applications for and renewals of WMRR membership. They should be read with WMRR’s Consititution, by-laws and applicable policies. If there is any inconsistency, the Constituion prevails.
1. Membership Period & Fees
1.1 WMRR membership is generally valid for the calendar year from 1 January to 31 December.
1.2 WMRR does not ordinarily offer pro rata membership.
1.3 Membership fees are determined by WMRR and must be paid by the stated due date.
1.4 Membership fees are non-refundable once paid, including if a member resigns or otherwise ceases to be a member, except where required by law or approved by WMRR.
2. Eligibility & Applications
- 2.1 Applicants must meet the requirements for their selected membership category, complete WMRR’s application process and pay the applicable fee.
- 2.2 Applications are subject to WMRR’s approval. WMRR may request supporting information or recommend a more appropriate membership category.
- 2.3 An applicant becomes a member only after the application has been approved and the applicant has been entered in WMRR’s Register of Members.
- 2.4 If an application is rejected, the applicant may use the review and appeal rights provided by the Constitution.
3. Affilaite Members and Organisational Representatives
3.1 An Affiliate Member must be an individual employed by a current Corporate/Government Member and nominated in accordance with the Constitution.
3.2 Membership rights and benefits are not transferable.
3.3 A Corporate/Government Member may replace its nominated Representative by giving WMRR written notice.
3.4 Changes to nominated Affiliate Members must be notified to WMRR. A new application may be required.
3.5 Affiliate Membership may cease if the member no longer meets the eligibility requirements, including if they cease to be employed by a current Corporate/Government Member, unless WMRR approves another membership category.
4. Membership Benefits and Participation
4.1 Current members may receive benefits available to their membership category, including access to eligible WMRR Working Groups, discounted rates for eligible events, member communications, and voting and participation rights where provided by the Constitution.
4.2 Working Groups, committees, events and elected positions may have separate eligibility requirements, capacity limits, approval processes, nominations or elections.
4.3 Voting rights depend on the member’s category and are available only while the membership is current and financial.
4.4 WMRR may reasonably change benefits, discounts and program offerings. Membership does not guarantee access to a particular event, group, committee, position or service.
5. Member Accounts and Information
5.1 Members may access applicable online services through www.wmrr.asn.au using their registered login credentials.
5.2 Members are responsible for keeping their login credentials secure and promptly notifying WMRR of suspected unauthorised access.
5.3 Members must promptly notify WMRR of changes to their contact, business or employment details, membership eligibility, nominated Representative or nominated Affiliate Members.
5.4 WMRR may send notices and membership communications to the postal or electronic address provided by the member or their Representative.
6. Renewal
- 6.1 WMRR may issue renewal notices before membership expires. Members remain responsible for renewing and paying the applicable fee by the due date.
- 6.2 Failure to renew on time may interrupt access to membership benefits, discounts, communications and voting rights.
- 6.3 Membership may cease for non-payment only in accordance with the Constitution, including any applicable notice and rectification periods.
7. WMRR Branding
- 7.1 Members may represent themselves as WMRR members only while their membership is current.
- 7.2 Use of WMRR’s name, logo or member branding must comply with WMRR’s guidelines and may require prior approval.
- 7.3 Membership does not authorise a member to speak on behalf of WMRR or imply WMRR’s endorsement of the member or its products or services.
- 7.4 When membership ceases, the former member must stop representing themselves as a current member and discontinue use of member branding where required by WMRR.
8. Suspenstion and Cessation
- 8.1 Membership may be suspended, terminated or otherwise cease on the grounds and through the processes set out in the Constitution.
- 8.2 Any applicable notice, opportunity to respond and appeal rights under the Constitution will apply.
- 8.3 A member who resigns or otherwise ceases to be a member remains responsible for any outstanding amounts or obligations.
9. Privacy
- 9.1 WMRR collects and handles personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles and WMRR’s Privacy Policy.
- 9.2 Personal information may be used to assess and administer membership, maintain membership records, provide member services and benefits, communicate with members, process payments and meet legal obligations.
- 9.3 WMRR may send member communications, newsletters, event announcements, policy updates and other relevant material. Members may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time, although essential membership communications may continue.

10. Changes to these Terms
- 10.1 Subject to the Constitution, WMRR may change membership fees, categories, benefits and these terms from time to time.
- 10.2 WMRR will provide reasonable notice of material changes where practicable or required.
