Following the 2026 Branch Leadership elections, WMRR is pleased to open the call for nominations from members to be part of the leadership committees for our working Groups and National Divisions.
These are voluntary office bearer positions that provide members with the opportunity to be actively involved in WMRR’s activities and assist in driving the conversations and research that shapes our sector’s advocacy efforts, training and event priorities, whilst also providing an opportunity to raise your own professional profile amongst your networks and develop your leadership skills.
WMRR State Based Working Groups
WMRR has 25 Working Groups which are open to participation from all members. These are denoted in the table below.

Working Groups generally meet on a quarterly basis, with some groups choosing to meet more regularly or at bespoke intervals depending on participant feedback and industry issues. Working Groups may choose to meet online or in person, and may from time to time participate in site tours and social events.
Ideally, each Working Group leadership committee consists of three (3) office bearers who work together to formulate meeting agendas including guest speakers and in person events, with the assistance of the WMRR National Office.
- The Chair has primary responsibility for chairing the meetings and is required to attend their State Branch meetings (held monthly) as well as the relevant National Division meeting.
- The Vice Chair takes on this role when the Chair is unavailable.
- The Secretary provides support and produces the minutes for the working group meetings.
It should be noted that whilst all Working Group positions are open for nomination, a number of Working Groups have office bearers in place who have indicated they will renominate to continue in the new term. Those groups with currently at least one (1) vacant office bearer position are denoted in the table with an asterisk (*). WMRR encourages members to especially consider nominating to be part of these leadership committees.
WMRR National Divisions
Each National Division is now calling for nominations for Chair and Vice Chair positions for 2026-2028. There is no secretary role. WMRR currently has five (5) National Divisions and is looking to start a sixth in 2027:
- Energy from Waste (EfW)
- Landfill
- Waste Educators
- Carbon
- Biohazard Waste industries (BWI)
- Resource Recovery and Market Development (RRMD) *Including Circular Economy WA
WMRR’s National Divisions are restricted in membership to the office bearers of the Working Groups, with the exception of the Carbon and Biohazard Waste Industries Divisions, which are open to any WMRR member who can demonstrate specialist knowledge in these areas of operation, and subject to the approval of the WMRR National Office.
The Chair of each National Division is also required to attend WMRR’s monthly national “Hookup” meeting with the WMRR Board and State Branch Presidents. These meetings are held on the first Friday of each month.

Lodging your nomination
Nominations must be lodged by completing this form. No attachments are required and the form should take less than five (5) minutes to complete.
Nominations are welcome from all WMRR financial members and nominees may choose to nominate for more than one position either within the same or separate Working Groups / Divisions.
Nominations will close on Wednesday 14 October 2026 at 11.59pm.
