The WMRR Board met on Thursday 4 September 2025 in Sydney, immediately following WMRR’s annual Strategy Day, which brought together the Board and senior management to review the association’s strategic direction for the 2026-2027 period.
The Strategy Day included an external environment scan, a review of member value propositions, and workshops on WMRR’s advocacy effectiveness and future service delivery. The Board endorsed a renewed focus on deepening engagement with state and territory governments on waste levy reform, expanding WMRR’s training and professional development offering, and progressing the development of the State of the Nation WARR Report.
The Board also reviewed financial performance for the first half of 2025, noting that revenue and membership retention remain on track. Preparations for the ALTS Conference in Perth in October 2025 are well advanced, with strong registration numbers indicating it will be one of WMRR’s largest ALTS events to date.
WMRR’s working groups continue to play a vital role in informing WMRR’s policy positions. The Board acknowledged the significant voluntary contribution made by working group members across all states and territories, and encouraged members who have not yet joined a working group to consider doing so.
