2024 Australian Resource Recovery Conference

The Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia (WMRR) invites you to join us in Adelaide on the 16-17 October 2024 for the inaugural Australian Resource Recovery Conference (ARRC).

The waste and resource recovery (WARR) sector receives 76 million tonnes of material each year of which we are currently recovering 62% nationally. With Australia committed to a resource recovery target of 80% by 2030, as well as a goal to reduce total waste generated by 10% in the same timeframe, we have a lot to do.

WMRR’s new Australian Resource Recovery Conference aims to brings together operators, practitioners, policymakers, regulators, and product developers from across the country to discuss all aspects of recovering material, making products, and keeping them circulating for as long as possible, including its clear role in addressing both emissions and biodiversity loss.

Over two (2) days the conference will look at all material streams and supporting infrastructure, and explore the necessary policy and regulatory settings, infrastructure planning, market development, and the technology available and/or needed to achieve the 2030 targets.  Highlights include:

  • Keynote panels and presentations featuring industry experts from across Australia
  • Eight (8) sessions covering policy and regulation; planning, infrastructure and investment; industry data and insights; product and market development; education and behaviour change; regional and remote case studies; technology and innovation; and recovery from disasters
  • Opportunities to network at one of two (2) social functions - pre-conference networking drinks and the official conference dinner at the historic Ayers House in the heart of Adelaide
  • A range of industry sponsors and exhibitors showcasing local innovation in resource recovery

WMRR are thrilled to introduce an awards program as part of our inaugural conference. The Australian Resource Recovery Awards will acknowledge and celebrate those in the field that have led the charge in driving resource recovery in Australia. We want to identify and reward people, innovation and facilities that are paving the way to help reach Australia's target of 80% resource recovery by 2030.

Quite simply, we want to recognise those that are recovering more, extending the life of resources, mitigating carbon and making lasting change for the community, business and the planet.

Congratulations to our finalists:

  • Re.Cycle - Sunshine Coast Material Recovery Facility
