Brian Johnston

Sustainability Officer, Commercial Retail Group

Brian has more than 14 years experience in the waste, recycling and sustainability sector and has worked in a variety of roles across a range of businesses. He has a background in organisational psychology, a genuine passion for the environment and his particular interest is working with people to achieve positive change for sustainable outcomes.

In his current role at the Commercial Retail Group,  Brian works closely with key stakeholders to keep Adelaide’s Finest Supermarkets – Frewville and Pasadena Foodland stores – at the forefront of sustainability in the retail sector.

Yaara Plaves

Associate Director, Hames Sharley

Yaara is Hames Sharley’s National Sustainability Forum (NSF) leader, sharing her knowledge and passion with the team and clients alike. Her in-depth understanding of sustainability and regenerative design has seen her involved in several committees and professional organisations within the built environment. 

Yaara is a South Australian local leader for all things regenerative and will continue to act as a green resource not only for the Hames Sharley team but for consultants, contractors, clients, and the general public. 

Prof. Jodie Conduit

Deputy Dean Research, The University of Adelaide

Jodie is a Professor of Marketing and the Deputy Dean Research for the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics at the University of Adelaide. She is also a Board Member for Green Industries SA and KESAB Environmental Solutions. Her academic research interests lie in how to engage consumers to drive behaviour change and also how to shape whole market ecosystems to facilitate this change; particularly in contexts for environmental sustainability.

Sharon Jamieson

Environmental Adviser Product Stewardship, SA EPA

Sharon came to the EPA from an IT career with the SA Police Department for 6 months and now 25 years later is administering the Single-Use and Other Plastic Products (Waste Avoidance) Act 2020.

She has been an environment protection officer doing compliance and assessing new developments. She was also a resource efficiency officer advising businesses how to use less resources and thereby create less waste.

Four years ago Sharon finished her Master of Teaching. She has always tried to protect the environment by educating people that waste should be seen as a resource and not to be discarded. Sharon is passionate about regenerating the planet (as others destroy it!!) and has assisted with many projects in her own backyard to 4th Creek, to Monarto to Kangaroo Island to Kruger National Park and more.
