Greg was elected in 2016, following a lengthy executive career in agribusiness, mining and manufacturing.  He now coaches businesses in leadership, business development, organisational and process change.   Greg's passion for lifelong learning includes a Masters in International Management and Executive Coaching and Mentoring accreditations.  His commitment to the Scenic Rim is for strong leadership to meet its challenges and opportunities.

Gavin Crawford

Branch Manager of Waste and Recycling Services, Bundaberg Regional Council

Gavin Crawford has worked in a number of Rural and Regional Councils for the past 29 Years in the roles of Environmental Health and Building Surveyor, Director  of Community and Environment  and Waste and Recycling Branch  Manager. Gavin has completed formal studies in Environmental Health, Building Surveying, Town Planning, Safety, Project Management and Management.

Gavin has a focus on leading a dynamic team of Waste professionals and support staff to limit the loss of resources and manage waste in a sustainable, safe, and efficient manner. 

Steve Cosatto

Manager Resource Recovery, Cairns Regional Council

Steve has been Manager of the Cairns Regional Council Resource Recovery Branch since 2016. In this role he is responsible for overseeing Council’s waste and resource recovery operations, strategy and business.

Prior to his current role Steve developed his interest in Resource Recovery as the Regional Infrastructure Projects Coordinator at the Far North Qld Regional Organisation of Councils (FNQROC) where he facilitated on Local Government collaborative Waste and Resource Recovery projects.

Matthew McCarthy

Resource Recovery Manager - City of Townsville

Matthew has worked in the WARR industry in regional Queensland for nearly two decades.   He is currently the Resource Recovery Manager at Townsville City Council and President of the WMRR Qld Branch. He also maintains strong connections across the country through the Local Authority Waste Management Advisory Committee (LAWMAC), the Local Government Waste and Resource Recovery Group and the WMRR National Energy from Waste Division Committee.  

Matthew operates a network of resource recovery centres, a landfill and a fleet of collection trucks. His team are currently running the northernmost food and garden organics (FOGO) trial in the country.
