Container Exchange (COEX) is the not-for-profit that operates Containers for Change across Queensland. 

Our vision is that no container goes to waste and we’re committed to giving empty drink containers a new lease on life, while making a positive environmental, social and economic impact.

Since we began in 2018, we’ve kept more than 8.4 billion containers out of litter and landfill, returning more than $840 million in 10-cent refunds to Queensland households, businesses, charities and community groups.

Containers for Change operates under the legislative framework of the Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011 (the Act) and is funded by the beverage manufacturing industry through a product stewardship model. 

In November 2023 we became the first container refund program in Australia to accept glass wine and spirit bottles.
