Dr Hossein Ghiasinejad

National Technical Lead, WSP

Dr Ghiasinejad has a PhD in Civil-Environmental Engineering and is a Chartered Engineer (Geotechnical, Environmental and Civil Engineering)  and RPEQ (Civil and Environmental Engineering), and was a former member of the International Geosynthetics Society local chapter.  Dr Ghiasinejad has been active in the consulting engineering sector, providing technical support for contractors, governmental institutions, and private clients. He has been heavily involved in landfill/tailing design, dam design, waste management, geosynthetic design/CQA, and environmental studies like EIA and air pollution studies. He also worked as university professor at IUST university and is an adjunct professor at UTS in Sydney.

Mark Winser

General Manager Operations, Kimbriki Environmental Enterprises

Mark is the General Manager of Operations at Kimbriki Environmental Enterprises. This role encompasses oversight of all operational, projects and planning aspects of a multi-functional resource recovery centre receiving and processing over 300,000 tonnes of waste/resources per annum with a recovery rate of 80%. 

Before commencing with Kimbriki, Mark entered the waste industry working for Remondis as the Technical Manager at the Organic Resource Recovery Facility processing food and garden wastes and biosolids for Port Macquarie Hastings Council. 

He holds a degree in Applied Science (Resource Management) from the University of New England and prior to entering waste management worked in the environmental science sector.

Dr Bowei Yu

Manager, Geosynthetic Research, Innovation and Development (GRID), Geofabrics Australasia

Bowei holds a PhD, BEng, and MEng in Geotechnical Engineering and is currently the Manager of the Geosynthetic Research, Innovation and Development (GRID) laboratory at Geofabrics Australasia. With over a decade of academic and industry experience, Dr. Yu has a robust research portfolio encompassing soil–geosynthetic interaction, interface behaviour, mechanical and hydraulic characterisation of geosynthetics, numerical modelling, and the long-term performance of barrier systems. His work has been presented across a variety of leading international conferences. At the GRID lab, he leads strategic testing and R&D programs that support Geofabrics’ product development and innovation initiatives. Dr. Yu’s leadership has advanced the industry’s understanding of geosynthetics under Australian conditions, and he remains deeply engaged in knowledge exchange across academia, industry, and regulatory bodies. His commitment to technical excellence ensures that Australia remains at the forefront of geosynthetic science and application in infrastructure and geotechnical engineering.

Daniel Gibbs

General Manager - Technical, Research and Innovation, Geofabrics Australasia

Daniel is a seasoned professional with more than 20 years of multi-faceted experience in geosynthetics and their application, performance and use across a broad range of infrastructure sectors. As General Manager of Technical, Research and Innovation at Geofabrics Australasia, he oversees the company’s technical direction, innovation strategy, and national product research and support functions. With a strong foundation in Quality and R&D, Mr. Gibbs has held leadership roles spanning product development, research commercialisation, technical marketing, and strategic partnerships. He is recognised for advancing sustainable engineering solutions across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in coastal resilience, PFAS containment, and circular economy initiatives using recycled polymers. Daniel has played a key role in growing Geofabrics’ R&D capabilities, including the establishment of the GRID laboratory and the integration of geosynthetic performance testing into product development. He has authored or co-authored numerous publications and is passionate about fostering intergenerational environmental equity through evidence-based engineering and a commitment to long-term infrastructure resilience.
