Dr Melissa Salt 

Senior Principal Scientist, ACT Williams

Dr Salt is a Senior Principal Scientist with ATC Williams and specialises in rehabilitation using nature-based solutions.  She is a Certified Professional Soil Scientist and Fellow of Soil Science Australia and has worked in waste management, mining and agricultural industries.  She completed her PhD on landfill final covers and was a major author on WMRR’s Phytocap Guideline.

Bella Hughes

Waste Engineer, Talis Consultants

Bella began her career as an environmental advisor in the mining sector before joining Talis as a Graduate Waste Engineer in 2023. Bella has since worked on a wide range of waste infrastructure projects and became a Waste Engineer in 2024, developing a partiality for regional and remote waste management facilities across WA.

Jane Barnett 

Principal - Air Quality and Carbon, Zephyr Environmental

Jane has 30 years’ experience in air quality consulting, both in the assessment phase and also monitoring and management.  She has significant experience in the waste sector, involving dispersion modelling and reporting for air quality impact assessment for landfill and transfer stations. Most recently Jane has been conducting research into effective methods to measure fugitive methane from large area sources.

Senior Associate Civil and Environmental Engineer, Senversa

Roger is a Senior Associate Civil and Environmental Engineer at Senversa, specialising in landfill design and geotechnical risk assessment. With over 12 years’ experience across Australia, he has led stability modelling, capping design and containment strategies for major waste facilities. Roger is a Chartered Professional Engineer and actively contributes to WMRR and national best-practice guidance development.
