The Victorian Branch of the Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia is hosting a workshop on Wednesday, 5 June 2019 in Melbourne to discuss EPA Victoria's strategic plan, including changes to the EPA Act and the practical impacts on industry.  See presentations from EPA Victoria CEO, Dr Cathy Wilkinson, and Elisa De Wit, Partner and environment and planning lawyer from Norton Rose Fulbright. The workshop will be followed by networking drinks.

DR CATHY WILKINSON

Chief Executive Officer, EPA Victoria

Dr Cathy Wilkinson is a senior executive with significant public sector experience leading the development and implementation of major policy and regulatory reforms for the Victorian Government in the planning, water and environment portfolios. Between 2006 and 2013 she was based in Sweden where she consulted to governments across Europe, completed a PhD at the Stockholm Resilience Centre and led projects with the Arctic Council, Rockefeller Foundation and the African Centre for Cities. Following her return to Australia in early 2013, Dr Wilkinson worked as an Executive Director with the Victorian Government, first leading major integrated urban water management reform and then regulatory, policy and applied science reforms with Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA). In August 2018, Dr Wilkinson was appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer at EPA.

 

ELISA DE WIT

Partner, Norton Rose Fulbright

Elisa de Wit is a partner in the Melbourne office of international legal practice, Norton Rose Fulbright and heads the office’s Environment Group.  She is also the Australian leader of Norton Rose Fulbright’s Climate Change practice.  Elisa has practised in three Australian jurisdictions and the United Kingdom over a period of almost 30 years.    Throughout her career, Elisa has worked with, and advised, the waste industry.  She has been a member of the Waste Management  and Resource Recovery Association of Australia since returning to Australia from the United Kingdom at the beginning of 2006, and has held various positions within the Association including the executive committee of the Victorian Branch of WMRR and Chair of both the Victorian and National Carbon Committees.  Elisa is also a Director of the Carbon Market Institute, Beyond Zero Emissions and the Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water Corporation.
