Farewell Dinner for Vaughan Levitzke

The Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia (WMRR) would like to invite you to a night to celebrate all things Vaughan Levitzke, as we applaud the Green Industries SA (GISA) chief executive’s lifetime of achievement and impact in waste and resource recovery (WARR).

Vaughan will be formally retiring at the end of June after four decades of public service. From his initial foray in government as an ecologist with the Department of Environment in 1978 to being appointed the inaugural CEO of Zero Waste SA in 2003, Vaughan has had a career of accomplishments and firsts.

He will be remembered for his dedication and intelligence in improving SA’s WARR sector, hitting high profile milestones such as the roll-out of Australia’s first single-use plastic bags ban in 2009, the first Circular Economy strategy in 2017 and developing the first Australian state-wide five-year waste strategy.  He is a true leader and visionary.

It is only fitting that we appreciate and celebrate the man who has paved the way for SA’s circular ambitions, earning him the Public Service Medal for outstanding public service in the area of waste management reform and policy.

Please join us at 6:30pm on Thursday, 27 May 2021 at the National Wine Centre as we look back on Vaughan’s career and both celebrate and thank one of SA’s founding WARR leaders.
