NSW Women of WARR Leadership Breakfast

The Waste Management & Resource Recovery Association of Australia (WMRR) invites you to our annual NSW Women of WARR Leadership Breakfast on Wednesday, 20 July 2022 at the NSW Parliament House. This event is designed to celebrate women in our industry who are driving change, and in doing so, breaking down barriers and creating new career prospects for the next generation.

NSW Shadow Minister for the Environment

Penny Sharpe is the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council and Shadow Minister for the Environment. She lives in Sydney's Inner West with her partner, three kids and a variety of pets.

Penny became involved in politics because she wanted to change the world, immediately. While it is taking a bit longer than she had hoped she continues to fight for equality, sustainability and a NSW where the public good is at the centre of every decision.

General Manager NSW/ACT, REMONDIS Australia

Susie McBurney is the NSW/ACT General Manager at REMONDIS Australia and has been an active participant in the waste industry from literally day one - growing up with her family’s waste business - Usshers.

Susie has shown impeccable leadership and driven industry and organisational change as the first female Operational State Manager at Cleanaway in 2012 and the first female State General Manager at REMONDIS in 2014.

As the NSW/ACT General Manager for REMONDIS, Susie is responsible for 16 operational sites across NSW and ACT including resource recovery facilities, landfill operations as well as municipal, commercial and industrial collection contracts.

More recently she was recognised for her industry contribution winning the 2021 Woman of Waste award, at the Waste Innovation & Recycling Awards.
