Webinar | Understanding and managing fugitive LFG emissions

The National Landfill Division of the Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia (WMRR) invites you to join them online on Tuesday, 13 April 2021 for a technical webinar on understanding and managing fugitive landfill gas (LFG) emissions from landfill sites.

At this webinar, you'll learn about the collection and use of site monitoring data in risk assessment and design of LFG migration control systems . Our two expert speakers will use key examples to highlight the importance of understanding a site’s conceptual model, project objectives, equipment selection, and managing uncertainty.

Dr Ben Dearman, Managing Director – Biogas Systems, will present on monitoring subsurface migration – the science, uncertainty, and project objectives, including:

  • Objectives and data needs
  • Monitoring technologies
  • Field techniques (guidance meets field conditions)
  • Limitations in uncertainty and variability

Stuart Thurlow, Principal Environmental Scientist and Landfill Business Manager, Australian Environmental Auditors will offer an auditor’s perspective on LFG monitoring data and its use in risk assessment and remediation design, including:

  • Data needs for a risk assessment and design
  • Actual performance of active vs. passive management systems
  • Uncertainty and end-use
  • Verification of performance

The webinar will be facilitated by WMRR CEO, Gayle Sloan and Paul Lightbody of Mockinya Consulting.
