Online Forum | Best practice models for plastic waste

The Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia's WA Waste Educators Working Group invites you to join them for an online forum on Tuesday, 27 April 2021 to discuss best practice models for plastic waste avoidance, reuse and recycling.

Following last year’s successful and well-attended waste educators-driven online forum on ‘educating to avoid, repair and reuse’, WMRR is pleased to bring you part two of the national series, this time hosted by the WMRR WA Waste Educators working group.

This time around the forum will focus on models for avoiding the creation of plastic waste as well as reuse and recycling of plastic, with presentations and case studies covering three areas: best practice campaigns, building a systems-based approach, and successful program rollout.

This free, members-only event presents an opportunity to discuss ideas and strategies with your peers, as well as hear from:

  • Toby Hutcheon, Boomerang Alliance’s campaign manager, who will shed light on the organisation’s Plastic Free Places initiative.
  • Emma Saikovski, sustainability officer at the City of Rockingham, who will share council’s journey in developing and implementing a policy on single-use plastics and balloons.
  • Tom Linnell, managing director at Eco Think, who will talk about his work at Tension Woods College in fulfilling a commitment to become a zero waste school by 2025.
  • Rebecca Prince-Ruiz, executive director of the Plastic Free Foundation, who will share her experience in creating and raising awareness of Plastic Free July.
