Leanne Linard is the Member for Nudgee in the Queensland Parliament and is the Minister for Environment and the Great-Barrier Reef and Minister for Science and Innovation.
She has lived in the Nudgee electorate for most of her life and, along with her husband Ian, is raising her two young boys in the area.
As the daughter of a RAAF pilot and engineer, Leanne spent her early years growing up in a Defence Force family and learned the values of community service.
Leanne is the former Co-Chair and Patron of Upbeat Arts, a community organisation working with marginalised communities to promote social inclusion, as well as a former board member of the Australian Catholic University (ACU) Brisbane Community Chapter, Bravehearts, Brisbane Roar FC and Nundah Activity Centre.
Leanne was first elected as the Member for Nudgee in 2015, was re-elected in 2017 and again in 2020.
Leanne served as Minister for Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs from November 2020 to May 2023, and prior to this served as Parliamentary Chair of several portfolio committees between 2015-2020, including Child Safety, Education, Health, Employment, Training and Industrial Relations.
Most recently Leanne was appointed as Minister for the Environment, Great-Barrier Reef & Science, and Minister for Multicultural Affairs in May 2023.
Prior to entering Parliament, Leanne worked as the Executive Officer of a Commonwealth Statutory Authority, a policy advisor in the Queensland Government and as a private sector manager.
She holds a Bachelor of Business from Queensland University of Technology, and a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training. She is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) with a special interest in criminal law.
