JOE PICKIN
Director, Blue Environment
Joe is a director of Blue Environment strategic environmental consultants. He is a waste and resource recovery specialist with a PhD on the environmental economics of waste and over 25 years’ experience in the sector as a researcher, analyst and consultant.
Joe has completed upwards of 250 consulting projects and is well-known for his data and modelling work, which includes preparation of Australia’s National Waste Reports for 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2022. He is also recognised for work on greenhouse gas emissions in the waste sector – having undertaken 80+ projects on the issue and chaired the national carbon division of the Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia from 2012-2020.
Joe was also an advisor to the ABC’s War on Waste series.
